Gerne: Jazz
Thissecond CD in the three-volume series gathering the complete works ofTony Fruscella features the New York trumpeter as a member of the StanGetz quintet on two different occasions, a studio and club performance, both from 1955. Curiously, Fruscellas role in these titles recalls thelyricism and intimacy attained by Chet Baker on the same context. On thecontrary, the date with altoist Chick Maures, (born Wilfred RobertMaures and deceased on July 20, 1954) shows the typical experimental airof the late forties, with a kind of bebop charm, and with Trigliaassuming a Tristano-like mode. This session also represents therecording debut of all five jazzmen and Chicks only appearance onrecord. The last three alternate takes are bonus tracks included inorder to complete the corpus of Fruscellas works (not counting hismemorable LP recorded for the Atlantic label in 1955).
